A question about NGX, NGY and NGZ

#1 Post by zzhlax » Sat Nov 19, 2011 7:42 am

Dear vasp users,
Recently, I drew pictures of macro-averaged electrostatic potential from LOCPOT file and found that the shap of macro-averaged electrostatic potential is very sensitive to the NG*(X,Y,or Z, depending on which direction you are interested in). In order to obtain nice pictures of macro-averaged potential (a straight line), the parameter NG* should be modified sometimes to the desired value. However, it seems that this parameter cannot be modified arbitrarily. For example, I set NGZ=65 in my case, but it was reset to 70 by VASP, spontaneously. So I wonder the rule for NG* in vasp. Can anyone help me ? Thanks in advance.
